Our History

For more than 50 years, Natick Drama Workshop has introduced young people from Natick and the surrounding area to the fun of being involved in community theatre.  After auditioning, casts work every Saturday morning for 10 weeks on fun and creative shows under the direction of professional staff. Public performances are held at the Natick Middle Schools in November and March/April every year.

The magic of our program happens every Saturday when NDW staff, volunteers, alumni, and board members work with casts that range in size from 40 to 60 students.  As our young actors rehearse, adults design and create props, fashion costumes, and promote ticket sales to ensure that the shows have visual appeal and community support. We bring together a cross-section of community members, who are energized by the common bond they share in their love of the arts.

NDW works to ensure that everyone feels welcome and included.  We focus on positive mentoring by our older participants as well as role modeling by the adults who work with the cast. Because of this success, and our reputation for quality programming, NDW continues to gain in popularity.  We generally have a waiting list of children who look forward to being included in each year’s productions.
